SANDS (Still Birth and Neo-natal Death Charity) is a national organisation which exists to support anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby before, during or shortly after birth. We offer emotional support and information for parents, grandparents, siblings, children, families and friends, health professionals and others.
Stillbirth rates in the UK are around the same today as they were in the late 1990s. One in every 200 births ends in stillbirth, and one in every 300 babies dies within the first 4 weeks of life. Research is needed and National SANDS is involved in working with professionals in research to try and reduce the rates of stillbirth.
