July 2008
Hello everyone,
I would like to start this letter off by expressing our appreciation to Sonia Gow's friend Mel who very kindly made a new set of cot covers for the Moses basket in Rubislaw ward. Mel did a wonderful job with these covers which will bring a lovely touch of colour. Rubislaw ward and all at SANDS would like to thank Mel for her time and effort.
A BIG thank you to the team of Chaplains from ARI for the lovely service at the Trinity Cemetery in June. As usual it was a lovely small service with a few people going back to the Patio Hotel afterwards. The team of Chaplains always do a wonderful job.
Aberdeen Sands has recently funded a few items for Rubislaw ward, these items include new cd players for all the rooms, a new blood pressure pump and more equipment has just been ordered. Sandra and Davie Stephen's fundraising has provided Rubislaw ward with two brand new leather sofa beds for Dads staying over. As with these beds and all the other equipment they are vital and much needed and Rubislaw ward are very grateful indeed.
A few SANDS girls and their children took part in the Wee Walk in the Duthie Park at the end of April and raised £220.50 which was sent to National SANDS for Project 17, thankfully it was a lovely day which we all enjoyed very much. We also sent what was raised at our Beetle Drive in June which was a brilliant £387.00, so a BIG thank you to all who took part , hope you enjoyed it and hopefully there will be more in the near future.
There is befriended training in October / November, probably in a central point in Perth. It will be done over two non consecutive Saturdays and anyone interested can call Fiona Donald or Susan Forsyth.
The upcoming Conference on Guidelines for health professionals on 11th and 12th November is to be held at Kippie Lodge, anyone requiring further information can contact Sandra.
There will be more information about this conference in the October newsletter.
Donations
A BIG well done and thank you to Rita DiMascio who bravely walked the Gordon Way, 11.7 miles to be exact in May. Rita was overtaken by scouts and a very leggy Dutch lady but did incredibly well and raised £81.75 which she kindly gifted to SANDS.
A BIG thank you also goes to Sheila Millar, who kindly donated £25.00 to SANDS as she couldn't make it to the Beetle Drive,
