May 2009

Hello everyone,

Just a reminder of the upcoming Network day in Glasgow on Saturday 16th May, 80 people have already registered so anyone wishing to go should apply ASAP to Fiona (01224 707198)or myself (01224 684208). I am sure this will be a very interesting day.

Another reminder for the upcoming Beetle Drive on Friday 12th June @ Craigiebuckler Church hall, Springfield Road, starting @ 7.30pm prompt, tea coffee and biscuits will be provided and any donations of home bakes will be gladly accepted, there will also be a raffle, any raffle prizes gladly accepted too. Tickets are £5 per adult and £2.50 per child and all money raised will fund vital equipment for Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.

We have finally chosen a stone for the baby garden at Hazlehead Baby Cemetery, we have had a meeting with the Council planning Dept. with regard to getting input into the area, i.e. benches, paving around the stone, perhaps trellis to make it more secluded and a place for quiet contemplation. We do have a fund for this and any donations are welcome for this and for equipment for Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.

Derek Snow from Aberdeen Crematorium asked if we would be willing to fund a memorial stone at the crematorium for babies who have been sadly lost in the early stages, also still born and neonatal deaths. We are now working on permission for this project.

We are very happy to say we have been selected by Peterson SBS as one of there two charities to support over the next year, they have many fund raising events and we would like to thank Leona Gow for putting Aberdeen SANDS name forward. We were sorry to hear about Leona and Richard's sad loss of their precious baby. The first event in which we are invited to attend is on Friday 8th May at Aberdeen transport social club from 8pm until 1am. For more information please contact Fiona Donald 01224 707198.

The Trinity Service is being held as usual on Sunday 7th June at 2pm, this will change in the future, tea and coffee afterwards is booked in the Oyster Suite at Coast on the Beach Boulevard at 2.45pm, All welcome.

Donations

Again we have received quite a few generous donations, sadly we were not chosen to be one of five charities to receive money from Deloitte but would like to thank them very much for there generous donation of £100.

Also thank you to Colin and Donna Murray and family who kindly donated £10 in memory of Beth Stephen.

Jesamine Beattie very kindly donated £235 to Aberdeen SANDS.

Another donation very kindly given in memory of Murron Watt was from Duncan and Laura Stephen, they collected £175 at their daughter Ella's Christening, a very kind gesture.

Another generous donation kindly gifted to us was from Leanne Evans and her mum Adrienne Russell for £240, sadly this was collected at the funeral of Leanne's father Davie Russell in March 09. Leanne lost a baby a number of years ago and the special nursery also received £240 from the family.

We would also like to say a thank you to Sandra Stephen's mum and friends, Maria Grieve (a friend of Julie Jamieson's) and also Nina Ingram for the beautiful hand knitted shawls they have all given for Rubislaw ward.

Apologies for a couple of mistakes in the last newsletter regarding donations, Marie West not Maria gave a donation. Also a donation from Lauren and Louise Craig was also from their mum and dad, Scott and Lorna Craig. Once again all these donations are very very, gratefully received. Thank you to you all.
