July-August 09
Hello everyone,
First of all we would like to say a BIG thank you to Rev. Jim Simpson and his team for the mid year service at the Trinity Cemetery. There seemed to be more of a turn out for Refreshments and a chat afterwards as its nice to be in each others company with similar thoughts on the day.
We would just like to mention a memorial service at Clovenside Cemetery that was held on the 5th August. This was organised by a community councillor Eleanor Hayward who applied to the common good fund and received funding for a cairn with some brass forget me nots on it and it is for babies that have been still born or suffered a neonatal death. Hopefully we will be updated how this service went.
A special thank you to Marjory Simpson for taking the time to make beautiful Moses basket covers for the Rubislaw ward. We would also like to thank Peterson SBS for their continual support including envelopes, paper and photocopying and SANDS has its name on two of their trucks and has been spotted by a few parents. Also many thanks to Alan and Lyndsey Raeburn and to Alan's workplace Talisman Energy for providing us with SANDS company cards. These cards will be put in to the memory pockets in Rubislaw ward and we are hoping these are more likely to be put in a bag, purse or wallet rather than the bigger leaflet.
Donations
We would like to thank everyone who took part and donated to the recent Beetle Drive, a fantastic £843.00 was raised, so thank you all.
Thanks goes to Judith McKenzie's dad for the boots gift voucher, and also Judith's work Dril-quip who donated £100.00. Also thanks to Judith's friends from Dril-quip who donated £62.00 and also a further £9.00 from Virgin V. Many thanks to you all for your generosity.
A huge thank you to Seawell welfare committee who very generously donated a cheque for £800.00.
Many thanks go to Mark, Sheila, Fraser, Finlay and Angus Tattersdil who are auntie, uncle and cousins of the late Alice Anne McDonald. The family very generously donated £500.00 in memory of Alice.
A Big thank you to Rhona and Steven Gerrard and their parents for their donation of £100.00 in memory of their twin boys, Lewis and Kieran.
We would also like to thank Natasha Hauzaree for her recent donation of £23.20. Natasha sadly recently lost her little girl Angel and raised this money by doing face painting at the Cove gala.
Many thanks for another huge donation go to Eilidh McDonald who did a zip slide in memory of Alice McDonald and raised £670.71. Eilidh's Employers Deloitte also donated a cheque for £500.00, so the total £1170.71 went to National SANDS Project 17 appeal. Which is fantastic.
Another huge thanks goes to Lesley and Ec McCracken who raised a total of £858.72, this was raised from Ec running the Balmoral road race and they both also organised bingo. With Gift Aid, National SANDS will receive £910.00. This money was raised in loving memory of Jamiee Margaret McCracken who was sister to Alexander and Lexi.
We also thank Sandra Stephen who generously gave £80.00 after doing a body shop party.
Also thanks to Sandra's parents Hugh and Kirsty Matheson who kindly donated £20.00 in memory of their Granddaughter Beth Stephen's 3rd birthday.
