October 2007

Hello Everyone
Following the AGM meeting in September one or two of the positions have been filled, but we are still on the lookout for a few more volunteers for the smaller jobs. A BIG thank you to Jill Cozens for her hard work and time as Rubislaw liason, this is a very important job in which Sandra Stephen has kindly stepped in to take over. Nina Ingram, one of the newer members to the group has kindly offered her services to take over the next pregnancy group from myself so thanks to Nina. A BIG thank you also goes to Karen Seaton who is stepping down from position of joint chairperson. Karen has been very much involved in the SANDS group over the last couple of years and will still be doing her bit by purchasing Christmas merchandise for the Christmas Service etc, many thanks for your work and help. Also stepping down is Lesley McKay who has held the position of Trinity Project for many years, again a BIG thanks to Lesley for her time and hard work over the years.

Some smaller jobs are still available: Library and purchase of books, a leaflet buyer, a fundraising co-ordinator and a memorial co-ordinator, so if anyone is interested please get in touch with myself or Fiona Donald.

Just a quick reminder of the SANDS Christmas Service, as usual held at the chapel at the ARI on Sunday 2nd December, this is a lovely but emotional service in which afterwards refreshments are served and a chance to purchase SANDS Christmas merchandise and have a chat with other bereaved parents. Once again this service is split into two, the first being the quiet service and the second a family service. Fred Coutts and his team of Chaplains always make it a lovely service so hopefully see you all there.

Donations
We have received again, a lot of very generous donations a HUGE thanks to all the following:

Stephen Simpson of Trendell Simpson of Dundee very kindly donated 500 precious memory books and 500 Aberdeen SANDS leaflets free of charge.

The T Factor had a singing/karaoke night at the Parkway and raised a whopping £1000, one of the singers of T Factor and the chef lost babies in the past, a BIG thankyou to all who took part on the night.

Sheena Johnston kindly donated £10 as she couldn't make it to the Beetle Drive, so many thanks.

A BIG thanks to Jill and Alastair Cozens who very kindly donated £100, a very kind gesture.
Rita Di Mascio and husband Sandy very kindly donated £330 in memory of their little boy Joseph, this donation was very kindly matched by BP Well, so BIG thanks to you all.
Nina and Scott Ingram who just recently got married in August kindly donated £200, which guests had given instead of wedding gifts, again a very thoughtful gesture.

Another amazing donation came from Sandy and Phillipa Smith who kindly gave £288 in memory of their little boy James.

Also many thanks to Dan Smith and Alistair Baghurst who ran the Baker Hughes 10k and raised a fantastic £331.

THANKS to all who have donated and if anyone would like to specify what they would like the money to be spent on please let us know if you have any ideas.
